Day Programs
L’Arche Greater Vancouver provides two day programs for men and women with developmental disabilities.
Our day programs are rooted in key aspects of the L’Arche philosophy:
- provide an environment where each person with a disability can develop and experience the value of their particular gifts
- create relationships of friendship among participants, those who assist them in their programs while fostering individual independence and autonomy
- learn new skills and engage in life-enriching activities and experiences
- promote inclusion for all through welcoming the wider community to L’Arche and participating in meaningful activities in the Greater Vancouver region
Neighbours Helping
Neighbours
L’Arche Greater
Vancouver is proud to introduce its new day
program, “Neighbours Helping Neighbours”.
This program was created to reach out
to the elderly and others in our greater neighbourhood who may be having
difficulty with some basic gardening and light repair chores.
We are extremely grateful to Sisters Noreen O’Neil and
Carmelita McKenzie who connected us to The Sisters of Saint Ann. The Sisters of
Saint Ann’s “Esther’s Dream” Foundation has generously provided $10,000 to start
up our Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program.
Neighbours Helping Neighbours will help people with
disabilities participate in the wider community, maintain physical fitness,
learn new skills, and increase their social and relationship skills. TThis program will help them make a
valuable contribution to others by providing seniors or other people with a
physical disability with yard work and simple maintenance tasks that require
physical fitness.
